Our Commitment to serving OTHERS

We are more than a yoga studio. We believe in giving back wherever we can, and touching as many lives as possible in a positive way. That includes giving to charities and causes we believe in both locally and globally. Proceeds from the sale of our signature “Om Candle” go directly to support our favorite causes.

“I alone can not change the world. But I can cast a stone across the waters to create many Ripples.”

Charities We Love and Support Monthly

The Green Yogi - Our Hero AwardOur Hero

Each month we select one yogi who has gone above and beyond to dedicate themselves to their practice. To honor them, we donate $100 to their favorite charity. Read more about Our Hero on our Daily Greens Blog.

www.womenforwomen.org
Founder Mary Strong-Sullivan has been working with Women for Women International for over 10 years to support women in worn-torn regions to rebuild their lives through education. Our monthly donation pays for “Our Sister” to receive an education and necessary job-skills to support herself and her family. We have exchanged letters and received graduation letters from more than 20 different sisters who we’ve supported. Their determination and dedication to creating a better life inspires us.

charities_Dian-Fossey-Gorilla-FundThe Dian Fossey Gorilla Find

www.gorillafund.org
Every since she was a small child, Founder Mary Strong-Sullivan has been fascinated by primates. Her life long dream of visiting the Mountain Gorilla in Uganda’s Virunga National Forest recently came true. The experience moved Mary so deeply, that she became even more committed to protecting these magnificent beings. Our monthly donation provides supplies, tools, vehicles and support for the forest rangers that protect the Mountain Gorilla from poachers on a daily basis.

charities_JaneGoodallInstituteThe Jane Goodall Institute

www.janegoodall.org
Jane Goodall is someone Founder Mary Strong-Sullivan has deeply admired since she was a small child. Jane’s extensive research into the behavior of chimpanzees fundamentally altered scientific thinking about the relationship between humans and other mammals. Today, The Jane Goodall Institute works to protect the famous chimpanzees of Gombe National Park in Tanzania. Jane’s work revolves around inspiring action on behalf of endangered species, particularly chimpanzees, and encouraging people to do their part to make the world a better place for people, animals, and the environment we all share. We are proud to support her courageous cause.

charities_families-at-the-dumpFamilies at the Dump

www.familiesatthedump.org
On a recent trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico, Founder Mary Strong-Sullivan learned of a local cause that helps families, who are literally living in a local garbage dump, transition to a new life. One of their greatest needs are sponsors for the children. There are currently over 30 children who will be attending school for the first time. We are sponsoring one of the children in need by providing uniforms, books, computer and English classes.

charities_HumaneSocietyThe Humane Society

www.humanesociety.org
We are a monthly contributor to The Humane Societies general fund, but also raise funds through donation based classes to help with immediate needs like the Hurricane Sandy Relief effort, an enclosure expansion project to house over 80 laboratory Chimps who were recently released by the U.S. government, and yoga mat donations to help provide bedding and warmth for rescued animals in local shelters.

charitites_AWREAll Wildlife Rescue and Education

www.awre.org
Founder Mary Strong-Sullivan recently learned of this organization when she found an injured crow scrounging for food in a Manhattan Beach parking lot. The birds’ leg was broken, and after calling several agencies and getting sent to voicemail, a friendly voice finally picked up the phone. It was Dave from AWRE, a wildlife organization out of Long Beach. Dave, along with a few helpers, takes in a variety of injured local wildlife, rehabs them, and then releases them where they were found. Mary was so thankful for Dave’s help that she made a generous donation to AWRE on behalf of The Green Yogi and continues to support the cause. Dave fixed the crows leg and released him in Manhattan Beach in August 2013. Thank you Dave!
